origin story

In the windowless black box theater on West 27th street — in the Flatiron District of Manhattan — my scene study teacher looked up from his notes.

“You need to stop acting like an epiphany junkie.”

Dismissed, I left the room, feeling confused and insulted.

Years later, the phrase — epiphany junkie — still echoed in my head.

what is an epiphany junkie?

An epiphany is “a moment of sudden revelation or insight” or “a manifestation of a divine or supernatural being.”

A junkie is, “someone who wants to have or do something all the time.”

So, in my terms, an epiphany junkie is someone who is always chasing the divine experience.

who we are

Epiphany Junkie exists in the space between vision and execution. Between the surreal of the subconscious and the harsh reality of the surrounding landscape. Between process and product.

That acting teacher’s comment later resonated as the defining hallmark of our artistic and business ethos.

We recognize that transformational work comes from investment in the mundane. We help visions become a reality not just by dreaming big, but by building the framework to make the dream a reality.

our founder

Kate Szekely is an actor, producer, and teacher with over a decade of storytelling experience. She received her BFA in Theatre with Honors from NYU Tisch and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

She spent 12 years in New York City — producing international tours of indie theatre performances to acting everywhere from off-Broadway to converted garages in Bushwick. Kate learned that the best way to keep working as a creative is to make work for yourself.

Upon moving to Central Florida, she expanded into film and new media. She's produced three short films (one currently on the festival circuit, another in feature development), led production on an NPR radio program that won a Gracie Award in 2025, and raised over $100K through grants and crowdfunding. When there is vision, Kate meets it with action.

Though entertainment is her passion, Kate’s family is her life. She can be found cooking, hiking, boating, and laughing most often with her husband, son, and (very large) extended family. Kate also is an 800-hour certified Jivamukti Yoga Instructor, a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, and has a Blue Belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

We’re addicted to the pursuit.
